ended in the evening of July 9 at the meeting-hall in the Province’s Square. About 100 artisans, artists and singers attented the festival. Listeners were able to enjoy many kinds of folk songs of minority ethnic groups through the Southeast area (including Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ba Ria- Vung Tau) and

from Cho Ru with a song of Crop-Over Festival, Cham of lullaby song, Chau Ma of “Ly” song and so forth. The festival of the Southwest area will take place in July 16 in Can Tho. The event is marked with a trans-Vietnam performance. Some selected performances from “Folk Singing Festival 2005” being held in 6 provinces and cities throughout the country will then progress to final round in the nation level. This event is expected to take place in Ha Noi at the end of July. The festival aims to preserve and develop Vietnamese traditional culture and folk arts as well as create a good opportunity for exchanging experience between artisans, artists and singers about Vietnamese Folk Music. The festival is organized by Vietnam Televison (VTV) together with Department of Culture and Information and Association of Folklore at all levels. It is broadcast live on VTV.
