Dong Nai opens 9^th amateur information technology contest

July 2, Provincial Youth League together with Department of Science and Technology, Department of Training and Education, Dong Nai Radio and Television, Information Technology (IT) Association and the provincial Post Office held the 9^th amateur information technology contest 2005. It captured the attention of 171 pupils of primary schools, junior and senior high schools throughout the province except for Xuan Loc and Tan Phu district.

Scope of practices target included “test IT knowledge” quizzes, IT applications, digital imaging software and funny quizz. The contest was designed to test the contestants on knowledge and understanding of IT and practical applications. Besides, software made by all contesters designed for learning, teaching and management in school, and entertainment; this was the most important criteria in the contest to discover young talents. In the final stage, the contestants participated in fixing problems in computers by proposing solutions. In addition, they were tested skills of mouse and keyboard using (primary and junior high school) and computer assembling (senior high school).

At the contest 2005, Ho Ngoc Lan Anh (Long Khanh primary school), Nguyen Ba Nam Thien (Nguyen Binh Khiem secondary school) and Dang Nhat Minh (Tran Bien high school) won first prize in team selection round. Dang Xuan Mai (secondary school in Long Khanh), Tran Le Diem Chau (high school in Nhon Trach) were awarded the first prize in “test IT knowledge” quizzes and practical applications. Doan Quang Phat (Thong Nhat B high school) won first prize with software designed for “PDQ dictionary- Vietnamese English translating”. Nhon Trach district took first place, the second of Trang Bom and the third of Dinh Quan for funny quizz related to IT. Youngest contestant Nguyen Thanh Sang in Dinh Quan district and Lau Hinh Lenh who was Ethnic people in Cam My district were awarded prizes. Bien Hoa city also won prize.
