Speaking at the event, Nguyen Hieu Trung, Deputy Secretary of the city’s Youth Union, said that child protection, care and education had received continued attention from authorities and organizations at all levels. Among these efforts, maintaining the Children’s Council had helped create opportunities for children to express their views on child-related issues.

At the session, Deputy Secretary of the city’s Youth Union, Nguyen Hieu Trung, encouraged members of the Children’s Council to fulfill their representative role by speaking openly about their own thoughts and conveying the wishes and aspirations of children in their local communities.

Following the session, they were encouraged to continue acting as a bridge between children and the Youth Union and Young Pioneer Organization, actively listening to and sharing the thoughts and wishes of children at schools and in their communities. Each member should also become a smart internet user, learn how to protect themselves online and spread positive messages to those around them.

Nguyen Hieu Trung called on the municipal Young Pioneer Organization Council, the Advisory Board of the municipal Children’s Council and relevant agencies to continue creating meaningful, age-appropriate opportunities for children to contribute their opinions. In particular, he stressed the need to listen carefully to, fully record and take seriously the concerns, aspirations and recommendations raised by children at the session. Relevant bodies should discuss and respond to their proposals and forward appropriate recommendations to the responsible agencies for consideration and resolution. Youth Union and Young Pioneer Organization chapters at all levels should also continue organizing digital-skills education activities, creative programs and technology-based experiential activities, giving children opportunities to access new knowledge, develop practical skills and achieve well-rounded growth.

Under the theme “Building a safe, friendly digital environment — Shaping future generations of citizens,” members of the municipal Children’s Council shared experiences involving themselves or their friends while using the internet and social media. They also identified skills they still lacked and needed to develop, proposed appropriate forms of support, and put forward ideas for using technology to improve learning, create useful online recreational activities, develop creative products and promote positive actions within the community.

Before the second session officially began, members of the city’s Children’s Council heard Nguyen Thi Nhu Y, Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Long Hung Ward Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Long Hung Ward People’s Council, and former deputy to the 14th and 15th National Assemblies, share her experience as an elected representative. Her presentation helped the children gain a better understanding of the role of the National Assembly, the work of National Assembly deputies, the responsibilities of elected representatives and ways to turn concerns arising from everyday life into specific opinions and proposals. This also helped prepare them for the third mock session of the Children’s National Assembly in 2026.
