Thirteen wild elephants and about 20 wild oxen have destroyed crops and forest in Phu Ly Commune in Vinh Cuu District and Thanh Son Commune in Dinh Quan District in southern Dong Nai Province, according to a report from Vinh Cuu Nature Conservation.

Local residents believe the area set aside for the animals is too small to feed them properly. Dong Nai is one of few provinces where wild oxen are found. Authorities have not yet found a way of preventing them from encroaching on farmland.
