Formosa’s workers enjoy comfortable homes

Responsibility for taking care of material and spiritual life for workers is one of main objectives of the Hiep Hung Formosa Company Ltd. to make its workers love their jobs so as to enable its workers to identify themselves with Formosa. Thus, Formosa has decided to invest more than US$ 6 million in constructing apartment building for its employees. The building has 9 floors with its total rooms of 343. Each room with its area of 24 square meters is furnished with bunk beds for 6 people and wardrobes, tables and reading-lamps for individuals. The building is also equipped with an elevator. It houses the major workers and foreign experts working for Formosa with the number of residents of nearly 1,000. Leaders of the company said that the apartment block is comfortable residential accommodation for more than 2,000 people. Accordingly, the workers whose houses are more than 20 km far away from the company can have free registration, free accommodation fee and enjoy free meals. There are washing area, bathrooms with supplied hot water all day, a reading-room, a room for watching TV, a billiard room for males and a ping-pong room for females every floor in the building. The workers can read books, watch television or use internet to enhance their knowledge outside working hours; some workers are learning themselves Taiwanese to be able to communicate with the Taiwanese experts. Besides, some services as internet, beauty salon, supermarket, post office, banking service are available here. Therefore, the workers are not time-consuming when they have the demand. Formosa is among foreign-invested enterprises in Dong Nai to take the initiative in building apartment block with its comfortable rooms for providing accommodation for its employees.
