The nationwide live broadcast of the 2026-2027 back-to-school ceremony on the morning of September 5 gave the public a comprehensive view of the atmosphere welcoming the new academic year across provinces and cities. It also demonstrated the special attention that the Party and State have given to the education sector.
Notably, this year’s back-to-school ceremony coincided with the simultaneous inauguration of multi-level ethnic minority boarding schools in communes along the mainland border. This demonstrates a strong commitment to implementing the Politburo’s policy of investing in multi-level boarding primary and lower secondary schools in 248 border communes, thereby helping to provide better learning conditions for students in disadvantaged areas.
At the same time, practical gifts such as scholarships, bicycles, computers and textbooks were presented by agencies, sectors and localities to disadvantaged pupils and students, giving them additional motivation and peace of mind as they pursued their studies. These concrete efforts show that caring for education is not limited to policies and guidelines but is being translated into practical action focused on individual learners.
In Dong Nai, the new academic year began in a lively, joyful atmosphere, with a range of meaningful activities. Notably, many schools proactively connected tradition with modernity, creating back-to-school spaces that were both rich in local identity and infused with a spirit of innovation and creativity. Traditional education spaces themed around the “Dong Nai Spirit” were organized alongside innovation and creativity spaces, giving students vivid experiences from the very first day of the academic year.
From watching the artistic epic program “Dong Nai – Southern spirit, rising with the nation”, listening to the sounds of lithophones and visiting booths showcasing Dong Nai specialties, to watching robot and water-rocket demonstrations and participating in STEM, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) educational activities, students were introduced to education through a variety of new, visual and engaging approaches. The combination of tradition and technology not only created an upbeat atmosphere but also introduced a new approach to education suited to the demands of development in the new era: preserving foundational values while boldly embracing innovation to expand opportunities for learning and creativity.
The theme for the 2026-2027 academic year, identified by the Ministry of Education and Training, is “Innovating Mindsets – Driving Strong Transitions – Delivering Substantive Results.” For Dong Nai, innovation must first begin with a shift in thinking about educational governance. In the new period, leaders of the Dong Nai City People’s Committee have called on the entire education sector to make a decisive shift from a management mindset to governance and to create conditions for educational development through concrete solutions.
Innovation in educational governance must go hand in hand with innovation in teaching and learning methods. The education and training sector and schools need to step up the application of information technology, digital transformation and AI in education, thereby creating a favorable environment for teachers to innovate their methods and for students to develop their creativity and proactively acquire knowledge.
Technology does not replace the role of teachers. When used appropriately, however, it can become an effective support tool, expanding the capacity for knowledge delivery and interaction while enabling more personalized learning.
The school drum has sounded, marking the beginning of a new academic year filled with expectations. But the significance of an academic year does not lie in the enthusiasm of its opening day; it lies in the changes achieved afterward. Innovative thinking must lead to strong transformation, and strong transformation must be demonstrated through tangible results. Achievements in education and training will be one of the important driving forces contributing to the development of a prosperous, civilized and modern Dong Nai in the new period.
