Caring for workers, sustaining resource for development

As an industrial city, Dong Nai is currently home to more than 1.4 million workers employed inside and outside industrial parks. This is a major advantage in terms of human resources, creating an important foundation for the city’s strong development in the new period.

As the city adopts a range of special mechanisms and policies and attracts more large-scale investment projects, more industrial parks and economic zones will be developed and put into operation, further increasing demand for human resources. Retaining workers is one of the key requirements of the city’s development strategy.

In recent times, Dong Nai has effectively implemented a range of social welfare measures, particularly since the first Dong Nai Provincial Party Congress, now the municipal Party Congress, for the 2025-2030 tenure. These efforts reflect the city’s strong focus on improving the quality of life of residents in general and workers in particular.

The city has focused on attracting investment, promptly addressing difficulties and obstacles, accelerating administrative reform and creating a favorable environment for businesses to operate, thereby creating more jobs and maintaining stable incomes for workers. At the same time, practical welfare policies have been implemented, including 19 social housing projects with a total of more than 12,000 apartments; free periodic health checkups for workers; and programs such as the Trade Union member welfare program, Tet reunion, Workers’ month, Trade Union shelter, Trade Union meals, mass weddings and free legal consultations. These initiatives have helped workers overcome immediate difficulties, build confidence, feel secure in their jobs, remain with their employers for the long term and continue contributing to the city’s development.

However, the development of a modern city requires more comprehensive and long-term solutions to retain workers, particularly highly skilled workers. Alongside existing welfare policies, the city needs strategies to train and attract high-quality human resources, as well as policies attractive enough to draw leading domestic and international experts to engage in large-scale projects and core and high-tech industries.

For businesses, caring for workers should go beyond raising incomes. They must fully implement health insurance and social insurance policies and benefits, organize periodic health checkups and occupational disease examinations as required, and strictly comply with regulations on occupational safety and hygiene. Businesses should also accelerate technological innovation and automation to improve competitiveness, reduce workers’ workloads and improve working conditions.

For Trade Unions, the task is to continue renewing their methods of operation, bring welfare policies closer to workers, promptly understand their concerns and aspirations, and protect their legitimate rights and interests. When Trade Unions become a trusted source of support, workers will have greater confidence to work with peace of mind and remain committed to their employers and the city.

Caring well for workers’ lives is not only a social welfare policy but also a development solution and resource. Every social housing unit built, every welfare policy implemented, every school and cultural facility invested in, and every legitimate worker benefit protected helps strengthen trust. This enables workers to live and work with confidence, build long-term ties with the city and contribute to making Dong Nai a prosperous, civilized, modern and compassionate city.
