(ĐN)- The Dong Nai Health Department in coordination with the Provincial Social Insurance Agency on Thursday, held a meeting to mark the Health Insurance Day on every July 1.
The Health Insurance Law was approved by the National Assembly and came into effect by July 1, 2009.
One year after the law came into force, the number of health insurance card holders in Dong Nai reached 1.2 million by June this year, of whom, 938,000 participate in compulsory insurance and almost 274,000 participate in volunteer insurance. During the past six months of this year, number of patients who had health insurance cards treated at hospitals and clinics in the province reached 880,00, of whom, nearly 64,000 were inpatients.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga said that the one-year-old Health Insurance Law has brought about a surge of 50 percent in the rate of coverage by June of 2010 as compared to 18% in 2005.
