(ĐN)- A celebration meeting marking the 15th anniversary of the founding of Nhon Trach district was held here on September 1. Attending the meeting were the provincial leaders, representatives of local relevant agencies, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and local residents.
15 years ago, Nhon Trach district ’s economy mainly depended on agricultural cultivation. The district’s economy has grown rapidly over the past 15 years. Accordingly, the industry grows faster than agriculture and gradually comes to play the leading role in the economy. Agriculture currently accounts for about 12 per cent of the economy while industry makes up over 55 per cent and services over 33 per cent. The average per capita income increased from VND2 million in 1995 to VND15 million in 2008. The rate of poor households in the district has also fallen remarkably, from 23.5 per cent in 1995 to 5.74 per cent now. Nhon Trach has 6 industrial parks and 1 industrial cluster, covering an area of 3,600 hectares. The district has lured 330 projects so far with the total registered capital of US$6.44 billion.
On this occasion, the districts Party Committee presented Party badges for 30 years, 40 years, 50 years and 60 years service to nearly 300 senior party members
