(ĐN)- To celebrate the Vu Lan festival, Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in Dong Nai province contributed over VND 400 million to build houses for poor people and give gifts for the elderly, the blinds and the poor as well as present scholarships to poor students inside and outside the province. The Vu Lan festival offers Buddhists a time to reflect and express their gratefulness to their mothers. This event is held annually in the seventh month of the lunar calendar.
On this occasion, Linh Son pagoda located in Xuan Thien commune, Thong Nhat district, Dong Nai province presented 100 gifts to lonely elderly and people with disabilities in the area, each valued at VND 150,000. From the beginning of this year until now, the pagoda has organized visits and given over 600 gifts worth about VND 150 million for lonely elderly and people with disabilities inside and outside the province.
