More than 650,000 students in Dong Nai begin new school year

(ĐN)- More than 650,000 students throughout the province entered the new school year on September 5. The provincial leaders attended the new school year opening ceremony held in schools with their teaching staff and students.

According to information from the provincial Department of Education and Training, the total number of schools, from preschool to senior high school, in Dong Nai is 784 compared to 758 in last school year. The figure includes 256 infant schools, 305 primary schools, 166 junior high schools and 57 secondary high schools.

In the new school year, 31 new schools and 536 new classrooms have been built to serve an increasing number of students.

Yesterday was also the starting day of a new school year for students in some schools in Dong Nai. Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga and Director of Department of Education and Training Le Minh Hoang attended the inaugural ceremony of the 2009-10 school year at Vo Truong Toan High School in Cam My district. The school is a newly built school, covering an area of over 2 hectares with a total construction cost of VND 36 billion. At the ceremony, the school commended its former poor students who were admitted into universities and they were given scholarships.

Tan Phong B Primary School in Bien Hoa city

The new school year opening ceremony was also held at Tan Phong B Primary School in Bien Hoa city. This school is a newly built campus that costed over VND 23 billion to erect. It is recognised as a national standard school.
