Once operational, the 750MW plant is expected to produce 4.5 billion kWh of electricity annually, helping to ease the country’s power shortages until 2015.
On April 4, PetroVietnam signed an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract worth 524 million USD as part of a joint venture between the Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama) and the PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Company (PVC) to build the plant.
On June 10, Lilama and the German contractor Siemens signed a 375 million USD contract that will supply mayor machinery and equipment for the plant.
