The province’s mobilization board reported receiving a record 11,653 units of blood last year, reaching 137 percent of the target, the highest since the programme was launched. The record donations represented a significant change in people’s awareness of this humanitarian issue; blood donation activities has been implemented well at almost localities in the province.
 

In 2009, Dong Nai plans to get some 12,000 blood units from charitable blood donation activities, meet 95 percent of demands in hospitals across the province and Cho Ray Regional Blood Transfusion and Haematology Centre in HCM city.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Huynh Thi Nga stressed that besides developing the existing blood donation programmes and increasing public awareness, the localities should initiate more campaigns to encourage blood donation.

On this occasion, the mobilization board and the province’s red cross awarded certificates of merit to 165 outstanding collectives and individuals for their contributions to this humanitarian cause.
