(ĐN) – During the first half of this year, the Provincial Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front together relevant organizations and departments played an important role in promoting social inclusion and patriotic emulation campaign that encouraged all levels of society participation. Efforts made by the Dong Nai people contributed actively to local economic and social growth. As a result, the province mobilized peoples to collect NVD 4.7 billion to build 695 houses for local poor and VND 180 million to repaire 37 damaged houses for the poor. In addition, a large sums were also mobilized from the people throughout the province for upgrading infrastructure with an amount of VND 8.2 billion, giving 1,500 scholarships to poor pupils and offering loans to low-income families for raising their living standards.
According to plan as proposed by the Provincial Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, the province will continue to mobilize the local people to raise charity fund entitled “A day for the poor”. Until the end of 2005, Dong Nai expects to hit a goal of elimination of thatched cottages or temporary homes for the poor by lending aid to build houses for them.
