The Republic of Korea (RoK) is one of 51 countries and territories with investments in Dong Nai and is also the city’s largest foreign investor, with 469 active projects and a total registered capital of nearly US$8.4 billion.

After decades of cooperation, Dong Nai remains an attractive destination for RoK businesses. At a recent meeting with the City Party Committee (CPC) leaders, representatives of several RoK companies expressed their hope for continued support from local authorities as they pursue investment opportunities in the city.

A destination for major corporations

According to city leaders, investment by RoK businesses in Dong Nai has made tangible contributions to economic growth, job creation and the city's international integration. Many major RoK corporations, including Hyosung, Lotte, POSCO, Daewoo E&C and CJ, have chosen Dong Nai as a destination for developing their business operations.

Hyosung Group, which has operated in Dong Nai for nearly 20 years, is the city’s largest RoK investor, with US$2.2 billion in registered capital. The group has also made substantial contributions to the city’s development.

Bae In Han, General Director of Hyosung Dong Nai Co., Ltd., said Hyosung operates in several sectors, including leather materials, tires, industrial fibers, automotive airbags and carbon fiber. In 2007, Hyosung established its first manufacturing plant in Dong Nai. The group subsequently expanded its investments to other provinces and cities, gradually developing Vietnam into a key global manufacturing hub for Hyosung.

Like other businesses, Hyosung has faced challenges related to administrative procedures and rapid changes in the business environment. When difficulties arise, city authorities listen to the company’s concerns and work with it to find solutions through dialogue. With timely support from local leaders, Hyosung has maintained stable operations, continued to expand its investment in Dong Nai and achieved significant business success.

Hyosung plans to expand its existing operations in Dong Nai while exploring investment opportunities in other sectors, including energy, data centers and urban development. The group hopes to receive continued support from city authorities as it pursues these plans.

Beyond industrial manufacturing, RoK businesses have also invested in logistics, entertainment services and urban development.

The RoK is Vietnam’s largest foreign investor, with nearly 10,600 projects and total registered capital of nearly US$103 billion. It is also Vietnam’s third-largest trading partner. The two countries aim to push bilateral trade above US$100 billion for the first time by the end of 2026 and US$150 billion by 2030.

Park Se Il, General Director of Lotte Global Logistics Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Lotte), said the company opened a new logistics center at Nhon Trach 6 IP in May 2026. The facility represents an investment of approximately US$34 million and has a capacity of around 30,000 pallets. It is equipped with room-temperature, chilled and frozen storage facilities.

Lotte hopes to develop the center into a major export hub for Dong Nai’s agricultural and seafood products, connecting local producers with global markets. The company also hopes city leaders and relevant departments and agencies will provide guidance and support to Lotte and other RoK businesses looking to invest in Dong Nai. Lotte pledged to remain a trusted partner and contribute to the city’s development.

Committed to supporting businesses

Daewoo E&C is one of the RoK’s leading construction and urban development groups and is considered a successful example of a RoK investor in Vietnam. Over more than 30 years in the country, the group has undertaken a series of major projects with total registered investment capital of approximately US$4 billion.

Sharing his interest in the city, Jung Chulki, General Director of Daewoo E&C, said the group's competitive strengths extended beyond construction to its ability to undertake comprehensive urban development, from urban planning and capital mobilization to attracting global corporations and managing urban operations.

In Nhon Trach, Daewoo E&C is developing the Fores Centerm urban project, which covers more than 55 hectares and has a total investment of approximately US$630 million. Designed as a smart, environmentally friendly development, the project is expected to attract investment in shopping centers and international schools. It will also provide more than 800 high-quality social housing units and 2,200 high-end apartments, helping establish a new urban center in Dong Nai.

To help the project become a driver of development in Nhon Trach, Daewoo E&C hopes to receive close attention and active support from city leaders at all levels in handling administrative procedures, enabling the company to complete the remaining legal formalities as soon as possible. Daewoo E&C pledged to comply with Vietnamese law and strive to make the project an exemplary model for attracting foreign investment in Dong Nai.

Speaking at a meeting with the RoK’s ambassador to Vietnam and leading RoK businesses, Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the CPC, noted that many major RoK companies had forged close ties with the city over many years. He also praised them for complying with Vietnamese laws and policies and contributing to social welfare initiatives, in addition to their business activities.

Duc emphasized that Dong Nai was undertaking a range of major infrastructure projects, particularly in transport, including Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc An Seaport and a network of expressways. These developments would give the city a significant advantage in attracting investment, especially from RoK businesses.

In addition to its transport infrastructure, Dong Nai has several IPs ready to welcome investors, including Long Duc 3, Bau Can–Tan Hiep and Xuan Que–Song Nhan. The city hopes to attract RoK investment in high technology, semiconductors and artificial intelligence, as well as in service industries such as restaurants and hotels.

Duc affirmed that the city would take note of businesses' requests and provide support throughout the investment process. Businesses can submit their requests to city leaders through the Dong Nai Industrial Parks and Economic Zones Authority. Difficulties and obstacles falling within the authority's jurisdiction will be addressed immediately, while matters beyond its authority will be referred to city leaders for prompt resolution.
