The 2027 Lunar New Year, the Year of the Goat, falls just over a month after New Year's Day. Many businesses and OCOP entities have therefore made early preparations to ensure sufficient supplies for the year-end peak shopping season and Tet.

Preparing year-end production plans

Representatives of many businesses and production facilities said they would closely monitor market developments and formulate specific production plans, adjusting output for individual product lines amid forecasts of challenging market conditions and rising raw material prices toward the end of the year.

Le Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of Nga Bien Import Export Co., Ltd. in Xuan Hoa commune, said the company expects to supply roughly the same volume of goods for the year-end and upcoming Tet period as during the same period last year. The company is focusing on optimizing production and supplying its existing product lines, particularly its OCOP products. It currently has four five-star OCOP products: cheese-and-salted-egg-flavored cashews, original salted roasted cashews, garlic-and-chili-flavored cashews, and plain roasted cashews. The company is also making early preparations to improve packaging and product designs and develop Tet gift hampers.

Similarly, Truong Van Thanh, Director of Nhu Hoang Agricultural Services and Trading Cooperative in Tho Son commune, said the cooperative had begun preparing for the Tet season early. The cooperative expects to increase its Tet-bound supply by about 50% compared with normal periods. Depending on market developments and demand, it will adjust supplies for individual product lines accordingly.

According to many businesses, production facilities and cooperatives, raw material and transportation costs have increased by about 10-15% compared with the same period in 2025. Nevertheless, they are working to balance production costs and keep selling prices stable.

Le Trung Hieu added that the prices of many raw materials and transportation costs are currently about 15% higher than a year ago. The company is developing plans to balance costs, stabilize selling prices and strengthen market connections ahead of the upcoming Tet season.

Similarly, Pho Dinh Trung, a representative of Cuong Hoa Dried Fruit Production Facility in Gia Kiem Commune, said this year's market conditions had affected the facility's Tet production plans, particularly amid fluctuations in fuel, raw material and cooking oil prices. The facility continues to focus on traditional products, including fried pasta snacks, fried corn and dried fruit. It is proactively connecting with business partners and traditional markets to ensure sufficient supplies while making early preparations for year-end orders and demand during the upcoming Tet holiday.

Stepping up trade promotion

Amid volatile market conditions and changing consumer trends, many local businesses and OCOP entities are increasingly focusing on business networking and participating in trade promotion activities toward the end of the year.

Participation in major trade fairs and exhibitions, particularly national and regional programs on industrial and trade promotion, will provide local businesses and OCOP entities with opportunities to showcase Tet products, expand their markets and develop potential distribution channels.

Alongside traditional distribution channels such as markets and supermarkets, many local businesses and OCOP entities are also planning to promote and sell Tet products through e-commerce platforms and social media, including Facebook and TikTok Shop

Nguyen Thanh Long, representative of Anna Dragon Fruit Wine Production Facility in Dau Giay ward, said the facility would step up business networking and participate in supply-demand matching programs and shopping fairs both inside and outside the city toward the end of the year. These activities will help the facility find new partners and customers and expand its market during the year-end and upcoming Tet shopping season. At the same time, it is focusing on improving packaging and designing gift boxes for its products to attract customers and enhance product competitiveness.

Likewise, Truong Van Thanh, Director of Nhu Hoang Agricultural Services and Trading Cooperative, said that this year, in addition to its four-star OCOP salted roasted cashews, the cooperative plans to supply coffee products, including pure ground coffee, drip-bag coffee and paper-filter coffee, during the year-end and upcoming Tet period. The cooperative will therefore step up product promotion and participate in trade promotion programs and activities toward the end of the year to seek new business networking opportunities and expand its markets, particularly for products and goods for the Tet holiday.
