The result highlights Dong Nai’s strong appeal to foreign investors and its reputation as an attractive and reliable investment destination. The city is undergoing major transformation, with coordinated development of transport infrastructure and connectivity, industrial parks (IPs) and administrative procedure reforms, backed by strong support from city leaders.
Building investor confidence
Since the beginning of 2026, the city has welcomed numerous corporations and businesses, as well as ambassadors and consuls general from various countries and territories, seeking to explore its investment environment. Through meetings with city leaders and representatives of departments and agencies, investors have gained a better understanding of the city’s planning, potential, advantages and development strategy. Many have expressed interest in making long-term investments in Dong Nai.
Thai retail group Central Retail Vietnam (Central Retail VN), one of Vietnam’s largest foreign investors in the retail sector, has continued to expand its network of shopping malls and GO! mini supermarkets across the country in recent years. In Dong Nai, the group has invested a total of US$80 million in shopping malls and mini supermarkets, creating jobs for more than 800 workers.
Central Retail VN plans to open three more shopping malls and five GO! mini supermarkets in Dong Nai City. The group hopes that city leaders and relevant departments and agencies will help identify suitable locations and expedite the required administrative procedures. It also wishes to obtain more detailed information on planning and infrastructure development as a basis for expanding its retail operations in the city.
Olivier Langlet, CEO of Central Retail VN
Building on its achievements to date, Central Retail VN plans to further expand its investment in Dong Nai, Olivier Langlet, CEO of the group, said at a recent meeting with city leaders: Central Retail VN aims to become a leading retail destination while serving as a link between local farmers and consumers and a buyer of locally produced agricultural products. The group plans to bring in experts to help farmers improve their packaging, seed preservation and agricultural production techniques. It will also gradually standardize its logistics system to enable local products to reach both domestic and export markets, ensuring that goods delivered to stores are fresh, high-quality and competitively priced.
Langlet said expanding the modern retail network would contribute to modernizing Vietnam’s retail sector. At the same time, increased investment would create jobs for local residents, generate business opportunities for farmers and stimulate local consumption.
Tapping into investment potential
Dong Nai is one of the country’s leading industrial centers. The city currently has nearly 90 industrial parks planned across its territory, covering a combined area of more than 43,000 hectares. It is also home to the Dong Nai and Be rivers, as well as a number of major hydropower and irrigation reservoirs. The city is envisioned as a modern industrial-services urban center and a logistics and high-tech hub for the southeastern region and the country. Dong Nai is prioritizing projects in high technology, biotechnology, new materials and green energy, while developing an innovation ecosystem linked to Long Thanh International Airport, the southeastern region’s logistics network and next-generation IPs.

Dong Nai’s strategic development orientations and plans are attracting growing interest from FDI investors. Alexander Ziehe, Chairman of the German Business Association in Vietnam (GBA), said Dong Nai has attracted investment from many leading German companies, including Bosch, Schaeffler, Bayer and Framas. German companies bring not only capital but also new solutions and technologies to the city, helping improve the capabilities of the local workforce while promoting sustainable and responsible business practices and contributing to the city’s overall economic development. The GBA has pledged to continue working with the city authorities as a long-term partner, contributing to Dong Nai’s efforts to strengthen its position as one of the country’s leading destinations for FDI.

Speaking at meetings with FDI enterprises, ambassadors and consuls general of foreign countries in Vietnam, Standing Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee Nguyen Kim Long said Dong Nai was entering a new stage of development, with a new role, greater development space and higher governance requirements. In particular, the Politburo’s Resolution No. 16-NQ/TW dated July 21, 2026, on the construction and development of Dong Nai through 2035, with a vision to 2065, has opened up new development space for the city. The resolution identifies Dong Nai as an important growth pole of the southeastern region and the country, serving as a regional and international connectivity hub and a center for industry, services, logistics and innovation.
Along with that, the Urban Development Law 2026, recently passed by the National Assembly, will further improve special mechanisms and policies to maximize the potential and advantages of key urban centers. These provide an important foundation for Dong Nai to pursue rapid, sustainable development and deeper international integration in the years ahead. Dong Nai welcomes investment projects that use high technology, are environmentally friendly and less labor-intensive, and invites potential investors to explore opportunities in the city.
