Focus on resources to accelerate four key Long Thanh Airport contract packages

On September 20, Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) said it is stepping up resource mobilization and coordination to accelerate construction of four contract packages on the critical path of Component Project 3 of the Long Thanh International Airport Project.

The four key contract packages being prioritized for accelerated implementation are Package 4.8, covering the construction, equipment installation and preparation of construction drawings for airside transport and technical infrastructure; Package 5.10, covering the construction and equipment installation of the passenger terminal; Package 7.8, covering structural works for Cargo Terminal 1 and auxiliary facilities; and Package 11.5, covering the construction, supply and installation of equipment for the parking facility.

According to ACV, these packages cover a large scope of work, with many components being implemented simultaneously and interconnected in terms of site conditions, technical infrastructure, equipment and construction sequencing. Therefore, during the current completion phase, ACV is intensifying its focus on coordination, resource mobilization and construction organization in line with priority milestones.

Component Project 3, which covers essential airport facilities, comprises 16 major construction packages. Four have been completed, while the remaining 12 are under construction. Alongside efforts to accelerate packages on the critical path, many key components of Component Project 3 have reached advanced stages of completion, paving the way for the project to move into the finishing, installation, testing and system integration stages.

Specifically, Package 4.6, covering the runway, taxiways, aircraft aprons and other facilities, has achieved nearly 99% of the contract value, excluding contingency costs. The main works have been largely completed, with the apron area reaching 100% completion, while the remaining items continue to be completed as planned.

Package 4.9, covering the aircraft fuel supply system, has reached nearly 98% of its contract value. Major components of the system are substantially complete, with the fire prevention and firefighting system at about 99% and the electrical and control systems at more than 99%. The contractor is continuing testing, system integration and trial operations.

Package 4.11, covering the wastewater treatment facility, has reached more than 91% of its contract value. Major civil works have been carried out, while the process, electrical, ICT, fire prevention and firefighting systems are being completed. The target is to complete construction and technical acceptance of the equipment systems before September 30, 2026.

Package 4.12, covering Runway 2, taxiways and associated facilities, has reached more than 81% of its contract value. The main runway structure has been fully completed, while the taxiways, service roads and associated facilities are continuing to be completed according to schedule.

Package 4.7, covering the passenger terminal apron and related facilities, has reached nearly 95% of its contract value.

According to ACV, as of early September 2026, work on the 16 major construction packages under Component Project 3 had reached around 80% of their combined contract value, excluding contingency costs.
