(ĐN)- A meeting was held on April 1 to review the implementation of the Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety Project (Lifsap) in Dong Nai in the 2010-2015 period.
During the reviewed period, the Lifsap launched Good Animal Husbandry Practice (GAHP) measures in three pilot localities of Xuan Loc, Thong Nhat and Long Khanh with the participation of 1,047 breeders. The project aims to help breeders boost family-based production as well as reduce the environmental impacts of raising animals, food processing and marketing.
In the coming time, the Lifsap will continue to improve the efficiency of household-scale breeders, minimize the impact of processing cattle and fowl on the environment, and raise the standard of food hygiene and safety in the supply chain of animal products, supply fresh and safety meat to the market.
Dong Nai is among the 12 provinces that have benefited from the World Bank-funded Lifsap. The project has been implemented in the province from 2010 with the aim to achieve increased production efficiency of household producers, reduce negative environmental impact by supporting livestock producers, markets and slaughterhouses to meet environmental standards, and improved food safety by supporting slaughterhouses and meat markets to operate at national hygienic standards.
