(ĐN)- The province’s forest coverage reached 28.34 per cent in 2008 with a total forest area of 167,295 hectares. From the beginning of this year until now, the province planted 350 ha of forests and also put another 3,800 ha under protection and care.

The provinces forest coverage rate now stands at 29%, having come close to fulfilling its target of spreading its forests to cover 30 per cent of the province by 2010.
At a meeting with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on May 8, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ao Van Thinh said that the province is still facing with deforestation and illegal logging which are the largest obstacle to forest development. The Vice Chairman also added that much remains to be done to develop forests in the province.
