Blue-shirted youth take the lead on “digital front” (Part 1)

In the digital age, cyberspace has become an integral part of social life. However, alongside mainstream and positive information streams, the digital environment also contains negative content, creating opportunities for hostile forces to spread distortions and engage in sabotage. Responding proactively to emerging trends, Youth Union members and young people (referred to collectively as Youth Union members) have taken the lead on the "digital front," working to build a healthy online environment, strengthen public confidence, and safeguard the Party's ideological foundation.

Part 1: “Greening cyberspace” with positive information

By spreading positive information and inspiring stories while countering false and distorted claims online, Youth Union members in Dong Nai are actively contributing to “greening the cyberspace,” creating a flow of positive, humane and valuable information across the digital environment.

Through these efforts, the younger generation is also affirming its proactive and pioneering role in shaping and guiding online information, with the aim of building a civilized and safe digital environment while contributing to the protection of the Party's ideological foundation.

Spreading positive values

Since social media became widely popular, Youth Union chapters at all levels have placed considerable emphasis on disseminating positive content online. These efforts have been particularly vigorous since 2022, following the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee's launch of the "One Piece of Good News Each Day, One Good Story Each Week" campaign in cyberspace. The campaign has been actively implemented through the social media channels of Youth Union, Youth Federation, and Young Pioneer Organization chapters nationwide.

In Dong Nai, Youth Union organizations at all levels have helped “green social media” by sharing stories that highlight young people's patriotism and national pride; the courage, dedication, and compassionate actions of Youth Union members in serving the community; examples of young people overcoming adversity; and innovative initiatives undertaken by the younger generation.

The TuoitreDongnai TikTok channel currently has more than 12,300 followers, with content consisting primarily of short videos featuring Youth Union activities. Videos highlighting the commitment and dedication of Youth Union members consistently attract a considerable number of views and shares. A year ago, stories about the Beautiful Living Youth Award and teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Nga's 11-year journey of “sowing the seeds of learning” through rain and shine at Ma Da Kindergarten in Tri An Commune, now Tri An Ward, were widely shared on the social media pages of Youth Union, Youth Federation, and Young Pioneer Organization chapters. Images of Nga traveling more than 20 kilometers along red dirt roads each day to nurture the dreams of students in remote areas, proactively improving teaching standards, and mobilizing resources to support disadvantaged students attracted widespread public attention. Her dedication became an inspiring example for the younger generation.

Addressing the 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for the 2026–2031 term, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam emphasized, "In cyberspace, the Youth Union must maintain a robust, intelligent, and humane presence; it must listen, address what the youth truly need, and communicate in ways they understand; it must spread positive values, defend the Party's ideological foundation, and combat toxic information and fake news, as well as materialistic, deviant, and indifferent lifestyles."

Similarly, stories highlighting patriotism on the social media pages of Youth Union, Youth Federation, and Young Pioneer Organization chapters have consistently attracted strong interest among young people. This has been particularly evident during major national and local commemorative events, including celebrations marking the establishment of Dong Nai City on April 30, 2026; Event A50, the national military parade and procession commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975–2025); and Event A80, the national parade marking the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945–2025). Following updates published on the City Youth Union's website and fan page, numerous local Youth Union members expressed their support by simultaneously changing their computer and phone wallpapers and social media profile pictures to mark these occasions, demonstrating their patriotism and national pride. These actions show that today's young people are neither indifferent to nor turning away from national history and traditional values, as hostile forces have alleged. On the contrary, they remain eager to embrace and promote these values in diverse ways.

Ho Tran Bich Thuy, a student in Class 12A8 at Le Quy Don–Quyet Thang Primary–Secondary–High School in Tran Bien Ward, said, "Amid the mix of positive and negative content online, it is essential for the City Youth Union to highlight good news and inspiring stories. Authentic, relatable real-life accounts and volunteer activities help young people learn good practices and awaken a sense of social responsibility. This encourages us to lead purposeful lives, uphold high ideals, strive to contribute, and actively take part in initiatives that benefit the community."

Creating value through digitalization projects

Nguyen Minh Kien, Member of the Dong Nai City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the city's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and Secretary of the City Youth Union, affirmed that Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, on breakthroughs in the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation (Resolution 57) not only provides momentum for digital transformation but also creates a platform for young people to demonstrate their vanguard and pioneering spirit and become more deeply involved in the digital transformation process.

Guided by the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and the city's development orientations, Youth Union organizations have gradually harnessed the technological strengths of Youth Union members to implement digitalization projects that deliver practical value.

Notable among these efforts are digitalization initiatives that serve the public while introducing new approaches to the Youth Union's communication and educational activities. One such initiative is the Tribute Map, a digital project launched by the City Youth Union in July 2026. The platform currently provides updated profiles, photographs, and addresses of surviving heroic Vietnamese mothers throughout the city.

According to Pham Thi Thu Thao, Deputy Head of the Youth Union and Children's Affairs Working Board under the Dong Nai City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the City Youth Union hopes the Tribute Map will help young people gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of heroic Vietnamese mothers. Through the initiative, each Youth Union member can gain additional motivation to excel in their studies and work, thereby honoring the sacrifices and contributions of previous generations and heroic Vietnamese mothers.

In March 2026, the Tan Trieu Ward Youth Union introduced the “Digitizing Historical Revolutionary Sites” model at the Historical Relic marking the Founding Place of the Binh Phuoc–Tan Trieu Party Cell and the Provisional Bien Hoa Provincial Party Committee in Tan Trieu Ward. Nguyen Vo Ngoc Hoa, Secretary of the Tan Trieu Ward Youth Union, said that, to implement the project, the ward's Youth Union collected and reviewed information and archival photographs relating to the historical site and made the materials accessible through a QR code. Youth Union members and local residents can simply scan the QR code using their smartphones to learn about the history of the Binh Phuoc–Tan Trieu Communist Party Cell, its historical figures, and related photographs. They can also share the QR code with relatives and friends who are unable to visit the site in person.

“Greening the cyberspace” through youth-led initiatives has helped reinforce public trust, build social consensus, and bolster resilience against malicious and toxic narratives. This exemplifies the combined approach of 'building' and 'combating,' using accurate, persuasive information to push back against false, erroneous, and hostile claims, thereby helping safeguard the Party's ideological foundation.

Teacher Thang Van Thang in charge of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization at Tan Trieu Primary–Secondary School in Tan Trieu Ward, said, "Digitizing historical revolutionary sites is a practical initiative that allows young people and residents to conveniently explore history, offering new approaches to educating students about historical traditions. Now, I only need to share the QR code with students, and they can scan it to learn about local historical relics without having to visit the site in person."

A proper understanding of national history gives young people greater “immunity” to misinformation, enabling them to verify information, identify false and distorted content, proactively seek out official information sources, and promote positive values across cyberspace.
