Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Tuan Anh, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai City People's Committee, emphasized that the World Environment Day 2026 provides an opportunity to widely promote the message of environmental protection, climate change response, and the adoption of a green lifestyle throughout the community. This is not only a response to a globally significant annual environmental event but also reflects Dong Nai City's determination to build a green, modern, civilized, and sustainable urban area.

According to Nguyen Tuan Anh, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, 2026 holds special significance as Dong Nai officially enters a new stage of development with city status. This places higher requirements on environmental protection, the development of a green and circular economy, and climate change adaptation to improve residents' quality of life and create a foundation for the city's long-term development.

Over the years, Dong Nai City has implemented numerous coordinated measures on environmental protection, including household solid waste sorting at the source, plastic waste reduction, tree planting, the development of green-clean-beautiful residential areas, and the replication of community-based environmental protection models. As a result, awareness and responsibility for environmental protection among authorities at all levels, sectors, the business community, and the public have steadily increased. However, rapid urbanization, industrial development, and the increasingly evident impacts of climate change continue to pose significant challenges. Therefore, city leaders have called on authorities at all levels, sectors, the business community, and all residents to continue taking more decisive and effective actions toward the goal of building a green, clean, beautiful, and sustainably developed Dong Nai.

Within the framework of the ceremony, the Organizing Committee launched a range of practical activities, including a parade of vehicles decorated with flowers and bicycles to promote environmental protection along key routes in Dong Phu ward; tree planting at the Center for Culture and Sports; a "Trash for Gifts" exchange program; and other activities such as visiting exhibition booths and taking photos at check-in sites to spread the message of green living and environmental protection.

The launch ceremony for Green Dong Nai Week 2026 is also one of the specific activities carried out under the special 500-day-and-night emulation campaign themed “Unity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, building a civilized and modern Dong Nai.” Through this campaign, the city seeks to mobilize the strength of the entire political system, the business community, and all residents in maintaining environmental sanitation, reducing plastic waste, planting trees, sorting waste at the source, and developing green–clean–beautiful routes.

With the message, "Every small action today will contribute to a greener tomorrow," Green Dong Nai Week 2026 is expected to continue promoting the spirit of green living, sustainable consumption, and climate action throughout the community, contributing to the development of an increasingly green, clean, beautiful, civilized, modern, and livable Dong Nai City.
