In recent years, Dong Nai City’s grassroots trade unions (GTUs) have continuously renewed their operational content and methods, contributing to practical efforts to care for trade union (TU) members and employees.
From practical experience, many effective models and innovative approaches have been implemented, generating a positive impact across the business community and society.
Advancing digital transformation in operations
Amid rapid digital transformation across all sectors, GTUs have proactively renewed their operational methods, gradually applying technology to improve the effectiveness of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of TU members and employees. Instead of relying solely on traditional communication methods, many GTUs have utilized digital platforms such as Zalo and Facebook to disseminate guidelines, policies, and laws, while promptly and conveniently gathering employees’ opinions and aspirations through online surveys and interactions.

A typical example is the GTU of Lixil Global Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Long Thanh ward), which has effectively utilized digital platforms to disseminate benefits, policies, recruitment information, and updates on the activities of both the enterprise and the GTU to employees. As a result, information is delivered promptly, helping to strengthen the connection between the TU organization and its members.
Le Thi Hien, a worker at Lixil Global Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd., said that due to the nature of the work, employees spend most of their time at the factory, making it difficult to fully keep up with new information, regulations, and policies issued by the company. Since the GTU strengthened communication through digital platforms, she can conveniently and promptly access information after working hours.
Notably, several units have applied digital platforms to manage TU members, organize online meetings, and conduct rapid surveys to gather employees’ opinions. These measures help save time and costs while improving operational efficiency in line with digital transformation requirements. In addition, online activities such as training sessions, dialogues, and thematic discussions have been further promoted. Programs aimed at caring for the lives of TU members have also been renewed through the implementation of point-accumulation applications, shopping discount programs, and online support services, bringing practical benefits to employees.
Le Nhat Truong, Chairman of the GTU of Pou Sung Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Vien commune), said that the application of digital transformation has helped the GTU improve the quality of its operations, enhance flexibility, and promptly address emerging issues. As a result, the role of representing, caring for, and accompanying employees is increasingly affirmed.
“In the coming period, to ensure sustainable effectiveness of digital transformation, the GTU will continue improving digital skills among TU groups while promoting the construction of shared platforms to ensure information security. This will be an important foundation for the TU organization to adapt to new requirements and better meet the needs of TU members and employees in the digital era,” Truong said.
Many practical care models
At GTUs, activities aimed at caring for the material and spiritual well-being of TU members have been implemented in diverse ways. In addition to organizing visits and providing support during illness or family-related difficulties, many units have supplied essential goods and offered products at discounted prices. Several GTUs have also coordinated with enterprises to establish emergency support funds to help employees overcome difficult periods.
Recently, at Hwaseung Vina Co., Ltd. (Nhon Trach ward), upholding the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, the GTU coordinated with the company’s Board of Directors to promptly provide assistance to Pham Thi Duc (Workshop 1) and Bui Thi Thanh Thuy (Workshop 2), who are suffering from serious illnesses and facing particularly difficult circumstances. The coordinated support from the TU organization and the company has not only helped ease their financial burden but also served as a meaningful source of spiritual encouragement, giving them greater strength and confidence to continue treatment, overcome their illnesses, and soon return to work to stabilize their lives.
In addition, cultural, artistic, and sports movements are always prioritized by GTUs, creating a healthy living environment and contributing to improving employees’ spiritual well-being. Various activities – including art performances, internal sports tournaments, and family day events – have been regularly organized, attracting the participation of a large number of TU members. These movements not only help employees restore their energy after demanding working hours but also strengthen solidarity and foster a united and cohesive collective within each unit.
Currently, Dong Nai City has more than 2,300 GTUs with over 747,000 TU members. With a large number of members, TU activities at units and enterprises have become increasingly effective and substantive, gaining the trust and support of enterprises. The city Federation of Labor will continue focusing on improving the quality of grassroots-level TU operations so that they can effectively fulfill their role in representing, caring for, and protecting employees.
Bui Thi Bich Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the city Federation of Labor
Le Mong Hoang, Chairman of the GTU of Freewell (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. (Dong Phu ward), said that TU activities and movements not only provide recreational value but also serve as an important bridge between employees and the company. Through these activities, the GTU is able to better understand TU members’ thoughts and aspirations, while promptly proposing and coordinating with the company to enhance care for the material and spiritual well-being of employees, thereby contributing to building a stable, harmonious, and sustainably developing working environment.
Through practical and innovative approaches, GTUs have affirmed their role as a reliable support for employees. Continuing to replicate effective models while flexibly adapting to new situations will serve as a key factor for TU organizations to further promote their role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of TU members and employees.
