Addressing the event, Nguyen Tan Phu, Vice Chairman of the City Fatherland Front Committee, emphasized that Humanitarian Month 2026 is taking place in a particularly significant context as Dong Nai has officially become the country’s seventh city. According to him, the city’s development should not only be measured by modern infrastructure projects and impressive economic growth figures, but also by cultural depth and humanitarian values.

Over recent years, the DRCS has not only affirmed its role as a professional humanitarian organization but has also become a trusted support network for disadvantaged and vulnerable people. Its activities have contributed to strengthening public confidence in the Party’s leadership and the State’s administration, while reflecting the humanitarian values of the country’s social framework.

Building on these achievements, Phu called on Party committees and local authorities at all levels to continue creating favorable conditions for Red Cross organizations to effectively fulfill their missions and further establish themselves as the center of humanitarian and charitable activities across the city.

He also urged Red Cross organizations to continue updating their operational methods and to move toward building sustainable humanitarian models, while accelerating digital transformation in humanitarian work to ensure greater transparency, professionalism, and efficiency.

Humanitarian Month takes place throughout May, with the peak campaign running from May 8 to May 19. During the campaign, the DRCS aims to mobilize more than VND5 billion to implement humanitarian activities and proactively meet emergency assistance needs in 2026.

Grassroots Red Cross branches have also been encouraged to provide sustainable livelihood support for poor households, targeting at least 5 households in each commune and ward, with a minimum assistance of VND5 million per household during 2026.

In addition, local Red Cross branches will organize Humanitarian Day activities and strive to complete at least two humanitarian projects or initiatives valued at VND80 million each. Citywide, the target is to mobilize around 4,000 units of blood.
