Scholarships worth over VND1.4 billion awarded to 308 students with disabilities

On October 2, Dong Nai Newspaper and Radio, Television (DNNRTV) and the Dong Nai City Study Promotion Association jointly organized the 15th “Supporting disadvantaged students to pursue their studies” program for the 2026-2027 academic year.

The event was attended by Bui Thi Bich Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai City Labor Federation (DNLF); Nguyen Khac Vinh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Hoang Thi Bich Phu, Deputy Director of DNNRTV; and representatives of sponsoring organizations, relevant departments and local authorities.

The program awarded scholarships to 308 students with disabilities, including 238 students at the primary, secondary and high school levels; 10 college students; 32 university students; and 28 students receiving one-time “Overcoming difficulties” scholarships.  The total value of scholarships awarded on this occasion was VND1.458 billion.

The DNSPA also presented awards to 50 students with disabilities who achieved excellent academic results in the 2025-2026 academic year. Each student received VND500,000.

The “Supporting disadvantaged students to pursue their studies” scholarship program was implemented in the 2013-2014 academic year, initially providing VND3 million per scholarship to students with disabilities at the primary, lower secondary and upper secondary levels. From the 2015-2016 academic year, the scholarship amounts were increased to VND4 million for lower secondary school students and VND5 million for upper secondary school students, vocational students and college students, while university students with disabilities received VND10 million per scholarship. The scholarship amount for primary school students remained unchanged at VND3 million.

In the previous 14 scholarship-award rounds, the program provided scholarships to 3,850 disadvantaged students, with a total value of more than VND15.759 billion. With this year's awards, the program has entered its 15th edition, bringing the total value of scholarships awarded to VND17.217 billion.

According to the DNSPA, in addition to the “Supporting disadvantaged students to pursue their studies” scholarship program, on the occasion of the opening of the 2026-2027 academic year, the city Study Promotion Fund provided 2,580 scholarships worth a total of VND2.58 billion to students in eight border communes, two Heroic Communes, 18 schools and six other disadvantaged communes across the city.
