Dong Nai is one of the country’s localities with a large concentration of workers employed in industrial parks. Therefore, improving the qualifications, knowledge, and skills of the workforce has become an urgent task for Trade Unions at all levels and the business community.

In addition to training and capacity-building programs, competitions designed for workers have become an effective tool for enhancing employees' knowledge, professional skills, and awareness of legal compliance.
Diverse competitions
In recent years, Trade Unions at all levels and enterprises have regularly organized a wide range of competitions, including labor law contests, occupational safety and health competitions, vocational skills contests, “Ring the Golden Bell” quizzes, and knowledge competitions on digital transformation. Through these events, employees not only strengthen their professional expertise but also gain opportunities to exchange experiences with colleagues, improve teamwork, and develop practical problem-solving skills.
One of the key advantages of such competitions is that they create an engaging and dynamic learning environment, enabling workers to absorb knowledge more effectively than through traditional training methods. Participation also encourages employees to proactively study and research materials, fostering a spirit of lifelong learning and continuous self-improvement.
The “Ring the Golden Bell” competition on occupational safety and health, jointly organized by the Trade Union and Vedan Vietnam Enterprise Corp., Ltd. in Phuoc Thai Commune in May, generated strong enthusiasm among workers. The event provided practical knowledge on workplace safety, accident prevention, occupational disease prevention, and relevant legal regulations. Through its lively question-and-answer format, workers enhanced their awareness and ability to handle workplace situations, contributing to a safer, healthier, and more productive working environment.
Do Nhu Dang, an employee of Vedan Vietnam Enterprise Corp., Ltd., emerged as the winner after outperforming more than 100 contestants. He shared: “Although it was organized for the first time, the competition provided a wealth of useful and practical knowledge about workplace safety. We hope that both the company and the Trade Union will continue creating more opportunities for employees to participate in similar activities and broaden their knowledge in various fields.”
Alongside efforts to improve workers’ legal knowledge and skills through competitions, grassroots Trade Unions within enterprises have proactively integrated awareness campaigns into collective activities and movements to make communication more visual and effective. At Dona Victor Footwear Co., Ltd. in Binh Minh Commune, for example, the company capitalized on a running event that attracted nearly 1,000 workers by collaborating with local police to conduct awareness campaigns on drug prevention, crime prevention, and legal compliance.
According to Nguyen Thi My Linh, General Director of Dong Nai Viet Vinh Footwear Co., Ltd., combining sports activities with legal education enables messages to be delivered in a more engaging and accessible manner, helping workers enhance their awareness, vigilance, and sense of responsibility in preventing and combating crime while maintaining security and order within enterprises and local communities. This approach is considered a flexible and effective model that aligns well with current production conditions and workers’ needs.
These competitions serve not only as meaningful recreational activities but also as effective communication channels that enhance workers’ knowledge, skills, and professional competence. They are among the key solutions for building a modern workforce capable of meeting the development demands of businesses and the nation in the new era.
Stabilizing workers’ mindsets
Nguyen Huu Dai, Deputy Head of the Industrial Parks Trade Union Division under the Dong Nai Federation of Labor, noted that many workers continue to face difficulties. Most rent accommodation near industrial parks for convenience, while a large proportion come from other localities and rural backgrounds with limited legal knowledge. Their income is often just sufficient to cover living expenses, making them vulnerable to external influences. Therefore, strengthening communication and educational activities to help stabilize workers’ attitudes and commitment to their jobs remains highly important.
During the past term, Trade Unions at all levels have continuously renewed their communication and education methods to make them more practical, accessible, and tailored to the characteristics of different groups of workers. Through legal knowledge competitions, occupational safety contests, emulation movements, and direct communication programs at enterprises, workers’ knowledge and awareness have steadily improved. These activities have also contributed to enhanced compliance with workplace regulations, fostered an industrial work ethic, and strengthened workplace responsibility.
Trade Unions throughout the city have intensified campaigns to prevent and combat usury and illegal lending activities, particularly in areas with large concentrations of workers. They have also worked to raise awareness and vigilance against terrorism, sabotage, riots, and activities aimed at disrupting social order by hostile and reactionary forces. Between 2023 and 2025, the provincial Federation of Labor (now the city Federation of Labor) organized three online legal knowledge competitions and launched the “Workers’ Meeting Point” program, which attracted strong participation and engagement from union members and employees across Trade Union media platforms.
Le Nhat Truong, Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union at Pou Sung Vietnam Co., Ltd. in An Vien Commune, said that competitions, forums, dialogue sessions, and thematic activities provide workers with opportunities to exchange experiences, voice their concerns and aspirations, and access updated information regarding their legitimate rights and interests. As a result, these initiatives help stabilize workers’ mindsets, strengthen confidence in Trade Union organizations, increase employee loyalty to enterprises, and contribute to the development of harmonious, stable, and progressive labor relations.
According to Nguyen Huu Dai, to further improve communication, legal education, and worker outreach efforts, the Dong Nai Federation of Labor will continue to expand communication activities and promote the use of information technology and social media platforms to improve access to information. The federation will also coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to make full use of cultural facilities across the city for the benefit of workers, while introducing reward mechanisms to encourage employees to actively participate in workplace competitions and knowledge-enhancement activities.
