(ĐN)- A meeting was held in Dong Nai on December 15 to respond to National Action Month on Population 2018 and mark Vietnam’s Population Day.
This year, Vietnam’s Population Day has a theme of ‘Adolescent reproductive healthcare for the nation’s future,’ aiming to promote safe sex and prenatal care.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Director Huynh Cao Hai of the provincial Health Department said that there are currently over 20 million young people (aged 10-24) in Viet Nam, accounting for some 22 percent of the population. Therefore, the reproductive health care programs needed to focus more on adolescents and young people.
He praised the health sector’s efforts and achievements in population planning and urged state agencies, sectors and citizens to support and participate in the programme.
Education should be also strengthened to raise public awareness about reproductive health care, he added.
