
(ĐN)- Over the past years, Vinh Cuu district’s Red Cross Chapter has made efforts to provide health care and relief to the poor.
From 2005 until now, the chapter cooperated with hospitals to offer free eye check-ups to nearly 2,600 poor people and 567 of them received free cataract surgeries. Earlier, more than 1,100 people who were cataract sufferers had also got their operations free of charge.

In this period, the chapter coordinated with localities to provide free medical check-ups and medicines to poor beneficiaries in remote areas. The chapter’s humanitarian blood donation programs received wholehearted support from local people and collected nearly 2,000 units of blood. In 2010, Vinh Cuu district surpassed the set target for the whole year, solved blood shortages in the hospitals.
Over the past five years, the chapter raised approximately VND8 billion to donate poor people, disabled and AO/dioxin victims in the district. Accordingly, it built 213 charitable houses totaling over VND1.7 billion and repaired 135 others. The chapter presented gifts, bicycles and scholarships to tens of thousands of studious poor students.
Implementing the campaign“Each organization, individual should stick to a humanitarian address”, the chapter mobilized 92 organizations and individuals to help 215 poor households to overcome difficulties, stable their life.
