14th session of the 7th Provincial People’s Council begins

(ĐN)- The 14th session of the 7th-term Provincial People’s Council was held in Dong Nai on December 1. The session was presided over by Tran Dinh Thanh, Secretary of the Dong Nai provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council.

During the 5-day session, delegates participate in discussion of the implementation of socioeconomic tasks in 2008 and goals and tasks for 2009.

In his opening speech, Chairman Tran Dinh Thanh stressed that the provincial authority should focus on a number of measures to curb inflation and ensure social welfare while maintaining economic growth. He also said that development of hi-tech and non-polluting industries should be encouraged in Dong Nai. He pointed out that the province’s key tasks for 2009 would be the fight against corruption, practising thrift, combating waste, maintaining social stability and improving traffic safety.
