The worship places across the province have been colourfully decorated and major streets in the province are decorated with colorful ribbons and banners to welcome the UN Day of Vesak.
(ĐN)- Dong Nai province is busy preparing for the most important Buddhist festival, the United Nations Day of Vesak to be held from May 12-19. The worship places across the province have been colourfully decorated and major streets in the province are decorated with colorful ribbons and banners to welcome the UN Day of Vesak. The provincial Buddhist Sangha expects to hold a parade of 65 flower-decorated carriages through major streets in Bien Hoa city on the night of May 18. The main ceremony will be held at the province’s culture and sports complex centre on the morning of May 19 with the participation of about 8000 people including guests, monks, nuns and followers across the province. The night of May 19 is a festival night to float flower garlands and coloured lanterns on Dong Nai river. The Sangha will also organise the gathering to pray for peace and the martyrs in the afterworld on the festival night.
To mark Vesak celebration, the Sangha promoted active participation of monks, nuns and followers in charity and social activities. From the beginning of the year until now, Buddhist monks, nuns and followers provincewide have poured nearly 870 million VND in humanitarian activities.
