A total of 37,000 young people from nine provinces and cities nationwide were provided with informatics training under a one-year project ended in March 2007.
According to an official at a press conference on June 25, the above figure is 37 percent higher than the initially set target.
The project, carried out by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, helped the young people, particularly those in rural areas, get access to informatics knowledge and the Internet, thus facilitating their study and business.
Nearly 1,000 young volunteers were also trained and sent to local communities to promote further study of information technology among young people after the project was completed.
The targeted localities include Ha Noi, Nam Dinh in the north; Nghe An, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak in the centre, and Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, and Can Tho in the south.
