Remarkable time of development of friendly ties between Dong Nai and Gyeongsangnam-do

This year marks the 10th anniversary of establishment of friendly ties between Dong Nai and Korea’s Gyeongsangnam-do province. On this occasion, Gyeongsangnam-do provincial governor Kim Taeho paid a visit to Dong Nai on June 14 aiming to strengthen the friendship between Dong Nai and Gyeongsangnam-do and promote the development of friendly ties between two provinces.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of establishment of friendly ties between Dong Nai and Korea’s Gyeongsangnam-do province. On this occasion, Gyeongsangnam-do provincial governor Kim Taeho paid a visit to Dong Nai on June 14 aiming to strengthen the friendship between Dong Nai and Gyeongsangnam-do and promote the development of friendly ties between two provinces. During the past decade, the cooperation between Dong Nai and Gyeongsangnam-do has witnessed intensive development, mutual understanding between the two provinces has been increasingly enhanced, and achievements in mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields quite fruitful.

Ten years ago, leaders of the two provinces of Dong Nai and of Gyeongsangnam-do signed the Agreement to establish Dong Nai - Gyeongsangnam-do Sisterhood Relationship in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation and partnership relations in areas such as science, technology, education, trade, investment, culture, tourism and sport etc. All these have brought about tangible benefits to people of the two provinces. Both provinces agreed to establish working groups to develop implementation plans and collaborative solutions aiming at effective cooperation in such fields. The working groups meet annually in Dong Nai or Gyeongsangnam-do. Both provinces agreed to arrange mutual exchange visits annually to exchange ideas and discuss current and future collaborations. Leaders of Dong Nai province and provincial businesses went three times to Gyeongsangnam-do in 1995, 2000, and 2005 to discuss cooperative agreements. In addition, exchanges of visits between the two provinces and various cultural activities ensure that the friendly relationship between the two peoples has been flourished, enhancing more mutual trust and understanding between them.

Dong Nai province attended the Korea International Machinery Expo 2000 (Kimex 2000) in Changwon city, Gyeongsangnam-do province. In the past many years, Dong Nai External Relation Department’s officials have been appointed to participate in training courses on international relations at the Local Officials Training Institute in Korea through the cooperation program between Viet Nam and Korea. Dong Nai delegations has received the supports of Gyeongsangnam-do province’s leaders when they paid working visits to Korea.

The working group of Gyeongsangnam-do province also went three times to Dong Nai. On May 11, 2005, Dong Nai sent its the working group to Gyeongsangnam-do province to discuss cooperation plan in 2006. On March 15, 2006, the Gyeongsangnam-do’s working group came to Dong Nai aiming to prepare for the celebration of the 10th anniversary of cooperation between two provinces.
