Addressing at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial Department of Population, Family and Children Huynh Thi Nghia told that Dong Nai Child Sponsor Fund has raised over VND 6.5 billion from 2004 till now according to the Resolution 67 proposed by the Provincial People’s Council. She also said that the Dong Nai Child Sponsor Fund granted more than VND 5.1 billion for providing free surgery for 15,651 cases such as harelip, eye and orthopedic operations as well as funding scholarships for outstanding poor students and taking care of orphans and street children … Especially, the Fund has launched special relief appeals themed “For saving 300 lives” since 2004 because there have been 314 children suffering heart disease in the province. As a result, 66 children have so far received free heart surgery under sponsorship of the Fund with a total amount of more than VND 2 billion.
At the ceremony, on behalf of 66 underprivileged children who got free heart surgery showed gratitude to the donors and hoped the Fund to continue helping to save lives of poor children with inborn heart defects.
