The Ministry of Trade decided to increase retail prices of petrol as of 20.00 on April 27 in the face of mounting pressure from global markets.
Under a decision signed by Trade Minister Truong Dinh Tuyen, retail prices of A95, A92, A90 and A83 gasoline increased by VND1,500/litre to VND11,300, VND11,000, VND10,800 and VND10,600, respectively. Diesel fuel and kerosene prices rose to VND7,900/litre, up VND400.
The announcement was made after the Board of Market Regulation met on Tuesday, saying that domestic petroleum prices would not be adjusted in the foreseeable future.
The Ministry of Trade asked the wholesale petrol import and trading businesses to check the amount in stock before applying new pricing levels to ensure smooth operations. It also asked the provincial Departments of Trade and Finance to monitor the operation of petrol stations to timely detect violations and avoid speculations.
