166 teams compete in Southern regional round of 6th National Robotics Innovation Contest

On September 13, at Dong Nai University, the Center for Science, Technology and Young Talent Development under the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in coordination with the Dong Nai City Youth Union, organized the southern regional round of the 6th National Robotics Innovation Competition 2026.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Center for Science, Technology and Young Talent Development Trinh Minh Thai said that after six editions, the National Robotics Innovation Competition has increasingly established itself as an intellectual platform where knowledge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics is transformed into functional models and where every idea is put to the test through logical thinking, precision and teamwork.

Under the theme “Vietnam Steadily Advances into a New Era,” this year’s contest carries the message that the preparations for the country to enter a new era of development are not limited to modern technology, but also include young people equipped with knowledge, a passion for innovation and the ability to master technology. The organizers expect contestants not only to build robots capable of completing numerous tasks and achieving high rankings, but, more importantly, to demonstrate composure and determination in the face of challenges, coordinate effectively with teammates, support one another and make the most of each team member’s strengths. Through the contest, contestants are also expected to further develop creative thinking, problem-solving skills, teamwork and a willingness to take on challenges.

Director Trinh Minh Thai expressed his hope that after the contest, contestants would continue to nurture their passion for innovation, constantly learn and explore, and confidently turn new ideas into products of value for study and everyday life.

Following the opening ceremony, 166 teams comprising nearly 300 contestants from six southern provinces and cities officially competed in three categories: R1, for primary school students or those of equivalent age; R2, for lower secondary school students or those of equivalent age; and R3, for upper secondary school students or those of equivalent age. The teams assembled and programmed their robots and competed directly at the venue.

At the conclusion of the regional round, the organizers will select the top-performing teams to compete in the national final in Ho Chi Minh City, scheduled for October.
