After four decades of renewal, Vietnam has achieved remarkable accomplishments of historic significance. However, the country's evolving development context now requires a new growth model capable of sustaining high economic expansion in the years ahead.
At the recent third plenary session of the 14th Party Central Committee, delegates acknowledged that although Vietnam has made significant achievements, the transformation of its development model has progressed more slowly than expected. To address this challenge, the Party has introduced a series of strategic guidelines and policy decisions aimed at achieving double-digit economic growth during the 2026–2030 period. Reaching this ambitious target will require breakthrough reforms in the country's development model, with every ministry, sector and locality implementing practical and timely solutions to accelerate the transformation process.
As the locality with the nation's fourth-largest economy, Dong Nai has an even greater responsibility to accelerate its own development model in order to create new growth momentum. The city has set an ambitious goal of becoming one of Vietnam's new growth poles. To soon achieve this objective, Dong Nai is focusing on building a streamlined, modern and professional administrative system dedicated to serving both citizens and businesses. Current priorities include unlocking development resources, removing bottlenecks, improving the investment climate and stimulating economic growth. The city is also concentrating resources on accelerating key infrastructure and strategic projects while promoting the transition toward a modern economic structure centered on industry, services, logistics, urban development, digital transformation and the green economy. These efforts are expected to provide the foundation for sustaining double-digit growth this year and in the years to come.
A major milestone came in early May 2026, when the Dong Nai Party Committee’s Executive Board issued Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU, launching a special 500-day-and-nightemulation campaign under the theme: "Unity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough, Building a Civilized and Modern Dong Nai." The Resolution is divided into five implementation phases, mobilizing the entire political system to maintain double-digit economic growth while promoting rapid and sustainable socio-economic development.
Under Resolution No. 05, the city's performance assessment extends beyond measuring task completion, work progress or output quality. Dong Nai will also evaluate how effectively agencies resolve long-standing issues, eliminate development bottlenecks and improve administrative efficiency. Performance will be measured by contributions to economic growth, improvements in discipline and public service accountability, as well as the satisfaction of citizens and businesses.
Ultimately, what the people and business community of Dong Nai expect is not simply new development targets but tangible action. As bottlenecks are removed, major projects move forward more quickly and administrative procedures become simpler and faster, the city's new development model will become a reality. Such progress will create greater momentum for Dong Nai to achieve stronger breakthroughs and further consolidate its role as one of the country's emerging economic growth engines.
