As a major industrial hub with hundreds of thousands of employees working in industrial parks, Dong Nai has consistently identified improving the quality and effectiveness of trade union activities as one of its key tasks in fostering harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.
The city is home to more than 2,300 grassroots Trade Unions with over 750,000 members, reflecting the extensive development of the trade union network across enterprises. The figures also reaffirm the unions' role as a reliable pillar of support in protecting the lawful rights and interests of workers while caring for their material and spiritual well-being.
In recent years, the Dong Nai City Federation of Labor and grassroots Trade Unions have effectively implemented numerous innovative and impactful programs, including Tet Reunion, Workers' Month, Trade Union Shelter, Trade Union Meal, and Trade Union Shuttle Bus, alongside initiatives such as free health check-ups, visits and gifts for disadvantaged union members, and emergency assistance for workers suffering from serious illnesses. These efforts have made a tangible contribution to improving workers' quality of life and encouraging them to remain committed to their employers.
One of the most notable initiatives has been the city's successful implementation of its free legal consultation program for union members and workers. The program is delivered through various flexible channels, including face-to-face consultations, telephone and social media counseling, and on-site legal outreach at factories, enterprises and workers' boarding houses. Beyond helping workers better understand labor laws, strengthen legal awareness and develop a professional work ethic, the program also encourages employers to comply with regulations governing labor contracts, wages, social insurance, working hours and other employment-related policies. As a result, it helps prevent labor disputes at an early stage while maintaining a stable production and business environment for enterprises.
To further strengthen the role of Trade Unions in the new development period, priority should be given to building a contingent of union officials with strong political integrity, solid knowledge of labor law, and effective skills in negotiation, dialogue and public engagement. At the same time, successful models and best practices should be expanded to further improve workers' living standards. Comprehensive social welfare policies—including affordable housing for low-income earners, the expansion of the Trade Union Shelter program, improvements in workplace meals, and greater investment in cultural, artistic and sports activities—should also be promoted to create a better working environment.
Grassroots trade unions, in particular, need to continue reforming their operations in a practical, member-centered manner, placing union members and workers at the heart of their services while integrating patriotic emulation movements with production and business objectives. They should also accelerate the application of digital technologies in membership management, organizing union activities, and receiving and addressing workers' feedback in a faster, more transparent and efficient manner, thereby enhancing the attractiveness and effectiveness of trade union organizations.

Only by continuously innovating, strengthening their presence at the grassroots level, and providing meaningful support to union members and workers can trade unions maintain their position as trusted representative organisations and a reliable pillar of support for employees.
