The ceremony announcing the National Assembly’s resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai City, scheduled for May 18, is one of the major events commemorating the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 – 2026).
Dong Nai’s official designation as Vietnam’s seventh city carries profound significance in the journey of the local Party organization, government and people, who have continuously upheld the pioneering spirit of self-reliance and resilience in implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s historic call: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom,” first widely proclaimed 60 years ago.
On July 17, 1966, President Ho Chi Minh expressed an immortal truth that deeply resonated nationwide and inspired unity: “Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom,” and “When victory comes, our people will rebuild our country, more dignified and beautiful than ever before.” Following his guidance with determination and perseverance, generations of cadres, Party members and residents of this revolutionary land have carried forward the spirit of the “Steel fortress of the Fatherland,” continuously advancing industrialization, modernization and improvements in the people’s material and spiritual well-being. After achieving remarkable accomplishments during 40 years of national renewal, Dong Nai now ranks third nationwide in population size and fourth in economic scale. Its average per capita income is higher than the national average, while its poverty rate remains lower than the countrywide level. The practical capacity has resulted in a historic turning point in the leadership of the Party organization, marked by the successful elevation of Dong Nai to city status — a milestone of pride in the nearly 330-year development process of the Bien Hoa–Dong Nai area.
The aspiration of the current City Party Executive Committee is to lead a strategic transformation that restructures development space, activates new growth drivers and enhances budget capacity, incomes and quality of life for residentsfrom all social strata. The standing members of the City Party Committee have consistently emphasized the spirit of unity and cohesion — “One mind top to bottom”, “Smooth coordination across the board” — while mobilizing collective wisdom to establish “standards of action” aimed at improving the quality of direction and governance, and ensuring the decisive and thorough implementation of the Resolution of the first Dong Nai City Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term, beginning at the ward- and commune-level. Officials are encouraged to think boldly, act decisively and maximize the people’s right to mastery, thereby promoting Dong Nai’s stronger economic growth, safeguarding national defense and security, and ensuring synchronized, sustainable breakthroughs. Often described as “a miniature Vietnam,” Dong Nai is expected to truly deserve its role as a modern, civilized and livable center of economy and industry, offering opportunities for a prosperous and happy life to people from all regions of the country who have chosen this locality as their long-term home.
Building “a more dignified and beautiful Dong Nai” also reflects a strong sense of responsibility and greater contributions toward transforming the nation’s destiny in a new era of its rise. Seriously concretizing these core goals, Dong Nai City’s leadership has committed to the central government that in 2026 the city will strive to achieve double-digit economic growth and state budget revenues of VND150 trillion. Dong Nai has fully prepared itself to shoulder the responsibility and role of becoming one of the nation’s key growth poles in the new stage of development — All for a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam, contributing to fulfilling President Ho Chi Minh’s aspirations during his lifetime.
