First session of 1st Dong Nai City People’s Council for 2026-2031 term opens

On the morning of May 15, the 1st Dong Nai City People’s Council for the 2026-2031 term officially convened its first session (specialized session). The event was co-chaired by Ton Ngoc Hanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee (CPC) and Chairwoman of the City People’s Council; Dang Minh Nguyet, Member of the City Party Standing Committee and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the City People’s Council; and Tran Van Mi, Member of the CPC and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Council.

Attending the session were Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the CPC and Chairman of the Dong Nai City People’s Committee; Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the CPC; Huynh Thi Hang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC and Chairwoman of the Dong Nai City’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; and Thai Bao, Deputy Secretary of the CPC and Head of the CPC’s Organization Commission.

In her opening remarks, Ton Ngoc Hanh emphasized that Dong Nai City is tasked with pursuing rapid and sustainable development, strengthening urban governance in a modern manner, effectively utilizing land resources and generating State budget revenue for urban infrastructure investment, while ensuring national defense and security and continuously improving people’s living standards.

On that basis, during this session, the City People’s Council will review, discuss and decide on a number of important matters closely linked to the locality’s development goals and governance requirements in the coming period.

The Chairwoman of the City People’s Council called on delegates to uphold their sense of responsibility, focus on in-depth discussions and contribute to building Dong Nai into a modern and civilized city.

At the same time, she urged submitting and appraisal agencies to continue close coordination, clarify issues raised by delegates and help build broad consensus before resolutions are adopted.

According to the agenda, the City People’s Council will consider submissions from the Dong Nai City People’s Committee regarding the list of works and projects requiring land acquisition for land-use-rights auctions in 2026.

The council will also consider a proposal to repeal Resolution No. 26/2021/NQ-HDND dated December 8, 2021, issued by the former Dong Nai Provincial People’s Council, concerning the handling of facilities failing to meet fire prevention and fighting requirements that had been put into operation before the 2001 Law on Fire Prevention and Fighting took effect.

In addition, the Council will consider renaming Huong Lo 2 Road, from National Highway 51 to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, as Nguyen Huu Canh Road.

Delegates will also review a draft resolution regulating budget allocation levels for the drafting and completion of legal documents by People’s Councils, People’s Committees and Chairpersons of People’s Committees at all levels across Dong Nai City.
