Provincial officials pay visit to Khmer people on Chol Chnam Thmay festival

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai Ethnic Minorities Committee on Sunday visited and extended best wishes to ethnic Khmer people and Buddhist monks in the two pagodas of Kitipuphatam and Thai Hoa in Long Khanh town and Dinh Quan district respectively on the occasion of their new year festival, the Chol Chnam Thmay.

During the visit, Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Dieu Bao applauded the efforts made by the Khmer people across the province over the past years which helped to promote the strength of national great unity. He also praised them for achievements in economic production which helped to renew the Khmer ethnic minority lives. The province has taken measures to help raise Khmer ethnic minority people’s spiritual and material lives while effectively implementing national programs on education, training and poverty reduction among Khmer ethnic minority people.

On behalf of the Khmer people in the province, most venerable Thich Phap Tan, the chief monk of Thai Hoa pagoda and Kitipuphatam pagoda head monk Thach Sa Huynh thanked the provincial authorities for their help and support over the past years.

Also on this occasion, the Dong Nai Ethnic Minorities Committee handed over Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung’s gifts and letter to ethnic Khmer people in the province. In addition, the Committee presented 14 gifts to typical Khmer households and Kitipuphatam and Thai Hoa pagodas.
