(ĐN)- 73 teams from 18 universities, colleges and vocational schools in the southern region gathered at the Rach Mieu Sports House, Phu Nhuan district, HCM City on March 5 to take part in the qualifying round of Robocon Vietnam 2011 contest. This year, there were 13 teams from Dong Nai-based Lac Hong University participating in the regional qualifying round. The competition concluded on Friday, April 8. As a result, the organising board has selected 12 teams including 6 teams from Lac Hong University for the final round, which will be held in Da Nang from May 9-15. 12 teams from the southern region will join the 14 teams from the north and 6 teams from the central region in the national final competition. From there, the national champion will represent Vietnam in the 10th ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest, known as ABU Roboconto be held in Bangkok, Thailand in August.
The contest theme is Loy Krathong, Lighting Happiness with Friendship.
The game goal is achieving Loy Krathon, which involves a team’s automatic robot successfully dropping a lit candle on the Krathong float on the river surface.
If neither team achieves Loy Krathong at the end of the three-minute match, the winner will be the team with the highest score.
