Dong Nai steps up building of a learning society

(ĐN)- Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga has jus had a working session with the education sector’s representatives on building of a learning society in Dong Nai.

Over the past five years, around 80.7 percent of children aged three to five in Dong Nai were enrolled in pre-schools compared to the target of 70 percent; 73.7 percent of junior high school students across the province passed the graduation exam; the literacy rate was 98.1 percent, according to the report from the education sector.

However, the report also showed that only 8.7 percent of pre-schools, 7.9 percent of primary schools, 7.1 percent of secondary and 26.5 percent of high schools meet national standards; the rates were much lower than the targets set by the province.

Speaking at the working session, Mrs. Huynh Thi Nga hoped that the educational sector will continue its efforts to complete the targets and focus on quality in its training programmes in coming time.
