(ĐN)- Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot presided over a meeting on Tuesday to review the province’s socio-economic performance in the first six months of this year and set tasks for the remaining months of the year.

According to the report, Dong Nai posted high ecomic growth rates in the first six months of this year and it achieved a 12.8 per cent increase in economic growth in the reviewed period. This was higher than the target set for the period. At the same time, the province registered a 17.4 percent increase in industrial production value and obtained a 26.6 per cent in export turnover to over US$ 3,423 million. Epidemic diseases on poultry and cattle have been kept under control. No new outbreaks of bird flu, foot-and-mouth and blue ear pig epidemics have been reported across the province during the period. In addition, the province has made remarkable achievements in the fields of healthcare, education and culture.
At the meeting, the participants pointed out diffculties and shortcomings facing the province, including the soaring prices in fuel and many materials, slow progress in land compensation and site clearance causing delays in implementing projects.
Addressing at the meeting, Chairman Vo Van Mot urged local relevant agencies to identify and implement strategies to manage difficulties to achieve set goals for 2010. He also asked relevant agencies to focus on efforts to speed up the administrative procedure reforms, ensure social welfare and environment protection ….
