(ĐN)- Chairman of the Dong Nai People’s Committee Vo Van Mot said at a meeting on Friday to review the province’s socio-economic performance in the first quarter of 2010 that Dong Nai recorded a positive economic growth in the reviewed period. Mot asked local relevant agencies to speed up the administrative procedure reforms to create a more transparent and favourable climate for enterprises and the people. He also said that enterprises should expand their export markets, enhance their competitiveness and continue to expand domestic market share. He pointed out that local farmers should be encouraged to change crop patterns and switch over to equally remunerative crops that consume less water. This will help minimize the damage caused by the shortage of water in the winter-spring crop of 2009-10.
Dong Nai’s GDP in the first quarter of this year is estimated to reach about VND7,457 billion or 21% of the year’s plan, a 13.4% year-on-year increase. Accordingly, the province’s industry-construction sector will increase 14.5%, agriculture, forestry and fishery 3.8%, services 13.2%. Dong Nai’s total budget collection in the first three months of the year is estimated at VND4,200 billion, making up 29 % of the whole year’s estimates, an increase of 38% over the same period last year.
