In 2009, the province implemented effectively ethnic policies, helping local ethnic people escape poverty and enhance the quality of life. Particularly, Dong Nai has built and repaired thousands of houses for poor households. Until now, living conditions in the province’s poor mountainous communes have been improved, with a significant reduction in the number of poor households and marked progress in education and healthcare.
In 2010, the province will continue its efforts to implement policies for ethnic minority people, provide with seeds and animals for breeding and received training in more effective ways to farm, which has increased their awareness of modern farming techniques.
Addressing at the conference, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Phuc stressed that further efforts should be made in coming time to diversify the forms of assisting ethnic minority people in the province.
On this occasion, the provincial Peoples Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 units and 3 individuals for their contributions to ethnic work.
