PM pays a working visit to Dong Nai

(ĐN) – A government mission led by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung paid a working visit to Dong Nai on Oct. 3.

At the working session, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot briefed PM Dung on Dong Nai’s socio-economic situation in the first nine months. Accordingly, the province’s GDP achieved more than VND23.6 trillion, up 8 percent year-on-year. Industrial production increased 8.1 percent, reaching VND60.7 trillion. In Jan-Sept period, Dong Nai attracted more than US$700 million in FDI and earned over $4.5 billion from exports. The province targets to reach a GDP growth rate of 9 percent in 2009 and 12 percent in 2010.

PM Dung highly appreciated efforts made by Party and people of Dong Nai province over the past nine months and urged the province to take opportunities and fully tap its potentials and advantages in order to fulfill the 2009 socio-economic development plan with an annual growth rate of 9 percent.

Talking with local authorities, PM Dung said the province with its location in the southern key economic region and a large acreage, that represents one-fourth of the area of the eastern part of southern Vietnam, should make full use of these advantages to develop high-quality industries, services and agriculture.

He asked the province to pay attention to training human resource, improving management efficiency, renewing regulations in order to facilitate production, exports and investment, and protecting the environment, especially on Dong Nai and Thi Vai rivers.

Sharing Dong Nai’s difficulties in infrastructure, the PM said the Government will assist it in investing in infrastructure for industrial zones, and conducting major transport projects such as the Long Thanh-Dau Giay and the Long Thanh airport.

The PM also asked relevant ministries and agencies to coordinate with the province in building the Hoa An bridge, establishing a high-tech biological zone, and developing the Bien Hoa Industrial Zone 1 into an urban trade and service centre.

On behalf of the province’s leaders, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dinh Thanh affirmed that Dong Nai will make its best efforts to fulfill and exceed the 2009 socio-economic targets
