(ĐN)- A ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of new Dong Nai bridge was held in the morning of June 7 by Ministry of Construction. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Minister of Construction Nguyen Hong Quan, Vice Minister of Transport Ngo Duc Thinh, Secretary of Dong Nai provincial Party’s Committee Tran Dinh Thanh, Secretary of Binh Duong provincial Party Committee Mai The Trung, Vice Chairman of HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Trung Tin and Vice Chairman of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai.

The five-lane bridge is located next to the existing Dong Nai bridge. It is built under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) model by the Construction Corporation No.1. The project is planned to be completed within the next 24 months with a total cost of VND1,877 billion, including VND622 billion for site clearances. The project also includes the construction of a tunnel for the HCM City-Bien Hoa route and a flyover for the Tan Van-HCM City route. The new bridge is built to ease the current overload situation at Dong Nai bridge.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai praised efforts made by ministries, agencies and localities to promote the project. He also stressed that the construction of the new Dong Nai bridge must be completed in time and meet quality requirements.
