On June 4, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung signed Decision No.73/2008/QĐ-TTg that approves the Dong Nai province’s socio-economic development project till 2020.
Accordingly, Dong Nai will strive to become an key industrial province of the southern economic region by 2010, transfer the province’s economic structure in the direction of industrialization and modernization, apply scientific and technological advances to production. Moreover, efforts will be done to speed up the process of international economic integration, closely combine socio-economic development with environmental protection and improvement as well as defense and security, develop infrastructure in accordance with the region’s plan.
Particularly, the province will try to achieve an economic growth rate of 14-14.5 percent by 2010. The figure is estimated at 14.5-15 percent in the period of 2011-2015, and 13.5-14 percent in 2016-2020 period. Dong Nai will also make all efforts to reach per capita GDP of $1,590 in 2010, $3,270 in 2015 and $6,480 in 2020. The province’s total development investment capital until 2010 will be VND101 trillion, VND210 trillion in 2011-2015 period and VND386 trillion in 2016-2020. Its population will be around 2.5 million by the year 2010, 2.7 million by 2015 and over 2.8 million by 2020.
