A review of Dong Nai Fatherland Front’s activities in 2006

(ĐN)- The Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province recently held a meeting to review its activities in 2006 and discuss orientations and tasks for 2007 in the presence of Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga.

(ĐN)- The Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province recently held a meeting to review its activities in 2006 and discuss orientations and tasks for 2007 in the presence of Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga.

According the report on the activities of the Front in 2006, the province’s Fatherland Front Committees at all levels mobilized over VND 70 billion to assist local poor families in building houses and developing production, thereby getting rid of hunger and poverty as well as granting scholarships to poor students. In addition, the Front has played an active role in encouraging solidarity between all people and uniting all to build a civilized life style and cultural families, villages and quarters. As a result, 80.89% of the province’s villages and quarters have been recognised as "cultural villages" and "cultural quarters" and 91% of households recognised as "cultural families".

On orientations for future tasks and the plan of action for 2007, the report emphasised:

The Front’s activities in 2007 will be aimed at speeding up hunger eradication and poverty alleviation, encouraging all people to help others escape poverty, reducing the poverty rate to below 7.5%; mobilizing people in helping the poor eliminate thatched cottage houses in 51 districts, wards and villages across the province; uniting all people to build a cultural lifestyle with 82% of villages and quarters to be recognized as “cultural units”, setting up Association of Oversea Vietnamese in Dong Nai province.
