The Prime Minister has urged the Ministry of Industry to set a new pricing schedule for electricity, to be applied from 2006-2008.
Accordingly, the ministry will design a new pricing schedule to attract domestic and foreign investors into power production. The move will also encourage the public to use power prudently, and make domestic power pricing competitive on a regional scale.
The Prime Minister also instructed the Ministry of Finance to guide the Electricity of Vietnam corporation in completion of formalities for the early issuance of international bonds, which are valued at around 500 million per annum.
The Ministry of Industry was also requested to co-ordinate with related agencies to consider expanding the current power purchasing contracts and develop new sources of power supply for submission to the Prime Minister for approval this month.
